After working at other engineering firms for more than 10 years, Bob Thompson created RW Thompson Inc. in March 1971. Six years later, the company merged with Commercial Testing Laboratories (CTL) resulting in the creation of CTL|Thompson and doubling the size of the original firm. Further expanding services geographically, CTL|Thompson acquired Patton and Burke in Dallas, Texas, in 1994, now known as CTL|Thompson Texas. He has worked on numerous projects including the first big hotel in Keystone, Colo., the new railroad line for Burlington-Northern from Gillette to Douglas, Wyo.; the Colorado Department of Transportation Glenwood Canyon project; Denver International Airport; Fortune Dam in Arvada, Colo.; and State Highway 130 in Austin, Texas. Mr. Thompson has unmatched expertise in the design of slopes, evaluation of subsoils, quality control testing, pavement and foundation design, mine subsidence remediation, and design of anchored walls for large excavations. Mr. Thompson is a registered engineer in Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and Arizona; actively involved on a number of committees and councils, as well as Fellow member, for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE); President (2003 – 2004) and on the Board of Directors ASFE (a not-for-profit trade association serving geoprofessional environmental, and civil engineering firms); founder and President of the Colorado Association of Geotechnical Engineers (CAGE); and past member of the Board of Directors for the American Consulting Engineers Council of Colorado (ACEC/CO). He holds a master and bachelor of science in civil engineering from Oklahoma State University. |
